Indie dungeon crawler S.O.L School Of Labyrinth is coming to PC via Steam
Japanese indie team Sushi Lab has opened a Steam page for their new game titled S.O.L School Of Labyrinth. The team is planning to release this title on the popular PC gaming platform, although they still have yet to provide a clear launch window.
This game will be a dungeon crawler RPG where you will be tasked to explore an otherworldly labyrinth beneath a school by recruiting students who come from all kinds of clubs. Other than equipment, you will also have to manage not only the members' HP and MP, but also their SAN (Sanity) levels.
The team included an admission on the usage of generation AI on the Steam page, not only for generating visual and audio assets but also for translating the game from Japanese to English. However, the admission also appears to be more elaborate than usual, as you can also read in full right below:
This game uses generative AI tools as part of the production process. Its main uses include assisting with the creation of some image assets used in the Steam store page and in the game, source material for some background music and sound effects, and assistance with translating and refining some text.
AI-generated visual and audio materials are not used as-is. The development team reviews them, then edits, crops, color adjusts, resizes, volume adjusts, or otherwise processes them as needed so they fit the game.
Text assisted by generative AI for translation or wording is reviewed by the development team for context and meaning, and revised when needed before being used.
Some players may feel uncertain about the use of generative AI, or consider it an important factor when choosing what to play. We hope that describing how it is used in this game as clearly as possible will help those players make their own decision.
Generative AI is not used during gameplay to create new text, images, audio, dialogue, quests, or gameplay content in response to player input.

An Otherworld Beneath the School
S.O.L is a dungeon crawl RPG about exploring an otherworldly realm beneath a school. You awaken in a mysterious place known as the Nameless Auditorium, with no memory of who you are. Guided by a mysterious “Teacher,” you descend deeper into the dungeon in search of a way back to everyday life.
Build a Party of Four Students
The students who take on the dungeon each possess different strengths depending on their affiliation. Some hold the front line, some heal their allies, and some wield knowledge against the strange beings waiting below. Choosing who to bring with you is an important part of reaching the deeper floors.
Friends Who Support the Base
You are not the only student who has drifted into this world. Others seem to have gathered at the base as well. By completing their requests, they can help strengthen the base and provide useful support. Work together with them and find your way back to everyday life.
Return, Rebuild, and Descend Again
By bringing back the materials you find, you can restore facilities at your base. To survive, you will sometimes need the courage to judge when to turn back.
Classic Turn-Based Battles
Combat uses a classic command-based turn system. Enemy attacks and strange events can wear down not only HP, but also the students’ SAN. Use skills, items, and sometimes retreat to protect both body and mind as you continue your exploration.
Grow Stronger to Reach Greater Depths
Leveling up alone will not be enough to reach the deeper floors. Strengthen your party little by little by finding weapons, armor, consumables, and restoring base facilities. How well your next expedition goes depends on the spoils you bring back and the preparations you make.
