Star Ocean 30th anniversary will be celebrated with a livestream on July 19

The 30th anniversary of the Star Ocean series will fall on July 19 this year, and Square Enix has announced that they will celebrate it by holding a special livestream on YouTube on the very day at 20:00 JST (11:00 UTC).

This stream will also feature the appearances of Producer Kei Komaki from Square Enix and Yuichiro Kitao from Gemdrops—the latter company worked on The Second Story R. However, the description also includes a fine print indicating that there will be no reveals of a brand-new game here.

The series' latest mainline entry, known as Star Ocean 6 in Japanese and Star Ocean: The Divine Force in English, came out in 2022. Square Enix has also been gradually releasing remakes of earlier entries, with Star Ocean: First Departure R released in 2019 and Star Ocean: The Second Story R out in 2023.
