Owlcat Games shares new Journey Trailer for tactical RPG Shadow of the Road, showcasing the game's environments

Publisher Owlcat Games and developer Another Angle Games have released a new "Journey" trailer for Shadow of the Road, showcasing the locations and environments players will see in the upcoming tactical RPG.

This is the latest in a lengthy series of trailers the game has seen since its announcement in August 2024, including a recent Story Overview trailer. It can be found below alongside a description, via Owlcat Games.

Shadow of the Road is set to release this year for PC (SteamGOG, Epic), but a release date has not been announced. A demo for Shadow of the Road is currently available on Steam.

Today, publisher Owlcat Games and developer Another Angle Games published a new environment trailer for the upcoming tactical RPG Shadow of the Road. Set in a world where the land’s ancient heritage is confronted by the steam-powered advance of modernization, the new trailer showcases some of the locations players will visit during their journey through 19th-century Japan.

Shadow of the Road’s Japan depicts an alternative version of the 19th-century Bakumatsu Period — a country full of clashing factions and world views, where a group of travelers become embroiled in the war between Shōgun and Emperor. However, it’s not just traditional soldiers they have to deal with: The East Nippon Company has bolstered the Emperor’s forces with advanced mechs, wreaking havoc on both military and civilians. Furthermore, the kami and yōkai, entities from Japan’s folklore and mythology that are also a part of this world, have their own goals.
