Expeditions: Samurai gets a new Dev Diary going over Early Access plans and more
THQ Nordic has shared a new Expeditions: Samurai Dev Diary ahead of its early access launch via PC (Steam) on August 7. The new Dev Diary goes over the early access plan and why the team decided to launch in early access.
The Dev Diary follows the recent video showcasing core features, the game's companions, and the story. Expeditions: Samurai follows Expeditions: Rome as the newest game in the series. You can read my interview with Expeditions: Samurai Creative Director Jonas Waever on co-op, the setting, DLC, and much more. The new Dev Diary and more early access details from THQ Nordic can be found below:
Why will Expeditions: Samurai launch in Early Access, one might ask? For the veteran developers at Campfire Cabal, who already created three games in the Expeditions series, Early Access is a reminder of the good old Kickstarter days of Expeditions: Conquistador. Getting in touch with fans and players early will make sure the game shapes up just as the players want it to. Feedback on features, balancing, exploration, stealth, combat, general gameplay, and more will allow the developers to fine-tune Expeditions: Samurai to perfection – because a good blade, like a good game, is forged through many strikes.
Over the course of Early Access for Expeditions: Samurai, three major updates are planned. And while detailed plans are already in place, player feedback will determine what these updates actually deliver and add to the game – so consider this your invitation to help sharpen the blade. If you want to be part of the journey from the very beginning, make sure to join Early Access on August 7th, 2026 and take the first cut at shaping the game's fate. But if you're a wait-and-see type of gamer (patience, after all, is a typical virtue for a Samurai), add Expeditions: Samurai to your wishlist or join the Discord server to get every update, sharp and on time.
