Boutique publisher SNEG, in partnership with Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc., are proud to announce the restoration of heritage Dungeons & Dragons title Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor is now available for the first time digitally on Steam and GOG for $19.99 USD / £16.75 / €19.99.
Originally released in 2001 by Ubisoft and developed by Stormfront Studios, Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor is a party-based, turn-based cRPG set in the Forgotten Realms. It brings players back to one of the most storied names in cRPG history, combining classic dungeon crawling, tactical combat and Dungeons & Dragons rules in a huge adventure through the haunted ruins of Myth Drannor.
A new Pool of Radiance has been discovered beneath New Phlan, spreading a wave of pure evil across the realm. Answering Elminster’s call, players build a party of heroes and descend into Myth Drannor to stop a sorceress and a dracolich from turning the power of the Pool against Faerûn.
Players create up to four heroes, and can recruit two more along the way, building a party of six from different races and classes. The game includes more than 90 spells, character progression up to level 16, and a choice between traditional turn-based combat and a faster timed-turn option for players who want a bit more pressure in battles.
The new release is designed to make Ruins of Myth Drannor much easier to enjoy on modern hardware while keeping the original experience intact. It runs smoothly on current systems, fixes numerous original game bugs, adds widescreen support up to 4K and sharper visuals, and introduces an improved UI with a new action bar and additional tooltips. Full controller support, reworked camera controls and adjustable combat animation speeds make exploration and battles much more comfortable for today’s audience.
Players can also customize how far they want the enhancements to go. An optional “Legacy” mode preserves the original gameplay and visuals, while the in-game settings let players adjust the scope of the modern improvements. The goal is not to replace the original game, but to make a large, tactical Forgotten Realms cRPG easier to discover and enjoy today - whether you remember Myth Drannor from the first release or are entering its ruins for the first time.
