The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons coming to 3DS Virtual Console

Over in Japan Nintendo is hosting another one of their online 'Nintendo Direct' briefings, directly delivering information on upcoming releases to fans - this time focusing on offerings for the 3DS.

One of the announcements is rather simple, but has excited us here immensely: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons are to launch on the Virtual Console service for the 3DS in Japan.

The release is pretty soon, too: February 27th.

The Capcom-developed Oracle titles are Game Boy Color classics that largely build on the systems and ideas introduced in Link's Awakening, one of the best Zelda titles. Releasing during the Zelda craze kicked off by Ocarina of Time, the games also implement a number of ideas from that title.

Both see Link journey to a strange land - in one he obtains the ability to change the seasons, while in the other he can manipulate time. The games also featured the ability to link together - though it's unclear how this will work here, if at all.

We're fired Nintendo an email enquiring about a Western release - cross your fingers.
