In an announcement that left a lot of people in the audience scratching their heads and a lot of fans across the world gasping, Sony today announced at the Sony E3 Press Conference that Final Fantasy XIV will be coming exclusively to the Playstation 3 console in 2010.
But you ask, Final Fantasy XIV? XIII has not even been released in Japan yet! It turns out that this will in fact be a new iteration of the online spectrum for the series that began with Final Fantasy XI, and is believed to be the much rumored "Rapture" project Square-Enix had been teasing for a little over a year now.
Not much is known about the game at this time, but expect a lot more news to fall either at Square-Enix's E3 press conference tomorrow, or at this year's Tokyo Game Show.
Final Fantasy XIV will be coming to the PS3 and PC next year, date TBA. For now, check out the trailer below thanks to G4, and visit the official website: http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/
