The world is vast in Atelier Shallie

Gust today revealed the first gameplay footage for Atelier Shallie, the third in the Dusk line of titles for the Atelier series after Ayesha and Escha & Logy. In three videos, we get to see the two new characters, Shallistera and Shallote Elminus, as they roam around the different maps that certainly look much larger than what I experienced in Escha & Logy, along with introductions from the girls.

The story of Atelier Shallie tells of how the world is slowly drying up and withering away. However, inside of the world lies a beautiful oasis that carries on, and this is where our two main characters meet. The item synthesis system will be an even more simplified system based off of Atelier Escha & Logy's, and will contain a freely-rotatable camera as shown off in the first video below. Just a note: this is coming from a broadcast, so the video quality is a little compressed.

I am always amazed by how good games from Gust tend to be visually. They look almost exactly like the concept art that they put out. Just thinking about what they can come up with on the new consoles is fascinating.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea is set to be released for the Playstation 3 in Japan on June 26th. No Western localization has been announced, but Tecmo Koei has been very good lately at bringing over every title that comes out. You can check out a wealth of gameplay screenshots and concept art below.
