New Final Fantasy XV demo shown at Tokyo Game Show

Square Enix has shown a brand new gameplay demo of Final Fantasy XV, the first since the game's reemergence earlier this week.

The showing, known as 'The Overture', came at the end of a demo of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD from Tokyo Game Show that was also livestreamed on NicoNico and came with a couple of details for Episode Duscae

New director Hajime Tabata, who's now taken responsibility for the project after Tetsuya Nomura stood down to focus on Kingdom Hearts III, confirmed the demo will take at least an hour to beat, but can be padded out longer by the player. You'll also be able to fight the adamantoise shown in the trailer released earlier this week, but it will take a while to beat it.

The demo's main method of travel will be the car as shown in the trailer, which can be controlled either by you or one of your fellow party members. It was mentioned you may also be able to travel by Chocobo.

Afterwards, the demo gave a look at some of the in-engine stuff, such as weather cycling plus day & night cycles, followed at the end by a battle with the Behemoth, also showing again the weather system by having it rain.

Square promised at the end that they plan to show more of the game more regularly now, with confirmation that they'll have an event to show it off at soon. That sounds like code for Jump Festa towards the end of the year.

You can find the video of the demo below.

Meanwhile, Square Enix has slightly backtracked a little from the date given for the release of Episode Duscae. Originally thought to be coming out day and date with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD next March, its now said it doesn't have a date confirmed.

"The release date of the Final Fantasy XV Demo has not been confirmed and we will announce more details closer to the release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD," said Square Enix Japan EU community manager Daniel Seto in the comments of the EU PlayStation Blog.

That said, it was mentioned during the gameplay demo shown at TGS it is trying to have it be the same day of Type-0 HD's release.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD launches on March 17 in the US, March 19 in Japan and March 20 in Europe for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
