New Torment: Tides of Numenera trailer showcases combat variety

InXile's and Techland's Torment: Tides of Numenera is nearing launch, and the publisher has released another video showcasing the choice-and-consequence variety in the followup to the cult-classic, this time specifically as such choices relate to combat. Touching on ways to peacefully avoid combat through deception, the usefulness of equipment and skills, and the abilities of powerful objects called Cyphers, the latest trailer can be watched below.

The video also touches on recruitable companions as well as a different take on death: dying will not lead the player to loading a recent save; instead the player finds themselves in a place called The Castoff's Labyrinth, where the game will continue despite having fallen in battle. It's just one of the many ways Torment seems to be turning some rpg conventions on their head.

Torment: Tides of Numenera lands on February 28th for PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
