Read what Japanese users think about Code Vein's demo version

Last weekend on October 14-15, Bandai Namco held a limited demo session & developer meeting for Code Vein where several lucky Japanese gamers won the opportunity to try out the demo version and send their feedbacks to developers right afterward. The demo build here is the First Blood Version, which is the same build that was also playable at last month's Tokyo Game Show 2017.

Japanese game news site 4Gamer also attended this event and published a portion of feedback Q&As that were conducted between the public testers and developers of the game. We have translated the Q&A section which you can read right below.

  • I want to freely assign button keys
The full game will have a key config option with a very high degree of freedom, so you will be able to have a control scheme similar to God Eater, or even attack with the R1 button (in an obvious reference to Dark Souls).
  • I want a feature to reset camera [position]
We do not have such feature at this point, but we're currently considering it.
  • I want to remove the mask
Due to the world setting, you cannot remove the mask during explorations. However, you will be able to see their full faces in the base camp.
  • It's difficult to understand the Buddy's situation
We're currently implementing things like showing a cursor pointing Buddy's location and having battle quotes subtitled as well.

We also had the chance to try out the First Blood Version at Tokyo Game Show 2017 ourselves, where we adventured with Mia and struggled against the stage boss Queen's Knight, and you can read our hands-on article right here. Our concern on this Code Vein demo was that blocking is totally useless as there is still some chip damage on successful blocks, but unfortunately, there are no mentions of this issue at 4Gamer's Japanese feedback article.

Code Vein will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with PS4 Pro and Xbox One X support in early 2018 worldwide.
