Fable III GDC Round-Up: John Cleese, Twitter, Natal and Menus

Game Developer Conference has been a busy time for Peter Molyneux and his Lionhead team as they use the show as a major platform to promote Fable III, the new Xbox 360 RPG and sequel to the multi-million selling 2008 entry in the Fable series.

Molyneux confirmed a number of features in the game, and rather than report them all individually it's easier to pack them all into one news post, starting with the announcement that Monty Python and Fawlty Towers star John Cleese is to lend his voice to a character in the game.

Speaking at GDC, Lionhead boss Molyneux confirmed that Cleese will play the role of the player character's Butler. It was confirmed back at GamesCom in Germany that the player would take on the role of the King in Fable III.

At his GDC presentation Molyneux also compared the way the heroes gain 'Followers' in Fable to popular social networking site Twitter, and said that he was working to "integrate that into the Fable experience." If he meant Twitter will actually be in the game or something else is currently unclear.

As if we needed any more confirmation, Molyneux spoke a little on the Natal functionality built into the game, which is set to be revealed at E3 2010 this June: "Natal is wonderfully additive to this experience. I can’t give you specifics, but it’s been a real joy to put some Natal stuff in there."

Expanding on things said in previous interviews, Molyneux also detailed how the Lionhead team have tried to do away with traditional 2D menus for the game, doing away with lists and instead making things like clothes and weapon changes a part of the world around you. He also confirmed that the previously announced unique weapons each player will create by playing would be able to be sold online.

Finally Lionhead released a bunch of new screenshots to demonstrate some of the things the boss had been touting at the show - you can see those through the link.
