Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ignis releases December 13.

During Sony's presentation at Paris Games Week, we finally learned the release date for the last of the initial set of character episodes for Final Fantasy XV. Episode Ignis will release on December 13 . This news along with the fact that Comrades multiplayer expansion was delayed until early next month after initially being slated to release tomorrow means that Final Fantasy XV fans will have a lot to look forward to as the year closes out.  We even learned that Yasunori Mitsuda has worked on the soundtrack for the episode, his first partnership with Square since 1999's Chrono Cross.

All signs point to Final Fantasy XV story content continuing into next year. Check out the full trailer for Episode Ignis below!

Square also posted a video interview with Matsuda.

FINAL FANTASY XV fans will soon be able to uncover the untold story surrounding Ignis’s battle against Leviathan during the events of the main game. Today’s newly released trailer, titled “Episode Ignis,” teases some of the challenges he faces and the battles he endures while protecting the crown prince, Noctis.

Slated for release on December 13, the newest DLC episode allows players to experience a brand-new storyline from the perspective of Ignis, featuring new music from legendary composer Yasunori Mitsuda (CHRONO TRIGGER®, CHRONO CROSS®, Xenogears®).

Other features from Episode Ignis include:

  • A brand-new storyline unknown to Noctis as he remains unconscious after the Trial of Leviathan. Ignis faces his own fight on the streets of Altissia, driven by his unwavering dedication to protect Noctis at all costs.
  • Fast-paced action - Ignis’s spelldaggers can be imbued with elemental properties, and his unique ability “Total Clarity” allows him to target and attack multiple enemies at once.
  • A new comrade, Ravus - following the guest appearances of Cor in Episode Gladiolus and Aranea in Episode Prompto, Ravus will join forces with Ignis, putting allegiances aside in order to save the ones they care about.
  • Master Your Fate – this episode features multiple endings, allowing players to see a different outcome of events.
