Call on your friends in Code Vein using distress signals

Bandai Namco shed some more light on how the multiplayer functionality will work on their upcoming hardcore RPG, Code Vein, thanks to the latest issues of Weekly Famitsu in Japan.

According to the article, players who are in need of assistance while playing the game will be able to send out a distress signal while they're scouring through a dungeon. However, it appears the helping player must have accomplished certain objectives in order to deliver the aid.

While the article doesn't go into specifics on what those objectives are, it seems almost obvious they would have likely had to clear the dungeon at some point in the past. While this is going on, your NPC helper will continue to remain by your side despite a human player is present.

You won't be able to directly communicate with each other, though, as you'll be relying mostly on gestures and simple voiced phrases (so about in line with what you'd expect from entries in this subgenre). There's no mention of a traditional voice or text chat available.

Code Vein is scheduled to be released worldwide for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam sometime later this year.
