Square Enix: FF14 on track for 2010, at a "critical finishing stage" at the moment

Final Fantasy XIV Producer Hiromichi Tanaka has confirmed that the game is still on track for a 2010 release, stating the game is at a "critical finishing stage."

Speaking to RPG Site at E3 2010, Tanaka's comments will ease the nerves of fans who were worried that the game might not make it out in 2010. When asked if the game was still on track for last year's projected release of 2010, Tanaka's answer was clean-cut and clear:

"Yes, that (2010 release) is the plan. In fact, we were planning to bring the Director, Komoto-san to this interview as well, but he had to remain in Japan to work on the game, so it is really at a critical finishing stage at the moment. We hope you and your readers will enjoy the game when it arrives later this year!"

That's that, then. It's coming this year. Sleep easy, Final Fantasy XIV fans. The beta's starting in the near future.
