Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr delayed to June 5

NeoCore Games has announced that Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr won't make its previously announced release date of May 11 and that the action RPG is now set to launch on June 5th. The game has been available for purchase on Steam Early Access since mid-2017.

Here's the message from NeoCore Games sent to press:

Unfortunately we have to push back the release date of Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr a few weeks. We need a little more time to ensure that the first Action RPG in the Warhammer 40,000 Universe is a truly great experience for all of our players, regardless of their platform of choice.

In an update on the game's Steam forum, a representative gives more information on the delay, citing extra time needed to polish up the console versions of the game, making a decision to delay all platforms so that they can launch simultaneously. However, the message ends on a peculiar note:

In return, we promise we’ll push this extra three weeks in 90+ hours per week so it’ll be very-very useful for Martyr.

Unfortunately, crunch development isn't uncommon for video games, but to see it mentioned as a benefit to the consumer is somewhat eyebrow-raising, even if it is in jest. Still, we'll have to wait a bit longer to see how this all shakes out.
