Right off the bat, let me tell you guys that you shouldn't let the name confuse you -- this is NOT going to be a sequel to the tri-Ace/Square-Enix Playstation 2 title "Radiata Stories". That said, this game will include some key staffers from that game, including original game designer Satoshi Takayashiki, along with the character designer Hiroshi Konishi. Mitsuru Hirata, who worked on Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, will be the game's director.

Radiant Historia (for the Nintendo DS) had its big reveal from Atlus in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine with a nice four-page spread going over many facets of the game itself, including the characters, story, and the gameplay itself.

Radiant Historia is set in Vancool, a land of man and beasts. This land is split info five countries. Our main character, 19-year-old Stok, serves in the intelligence bureau of one of these countries, Alicetel. Alicetel is in a state of war with with Gran org, a massive country to the West that 's ruled harshly by Queen Protea. Not only is Alicetel experiencing war, but is also seeing its land slowly turning to desert. "Sand Person Disease" has plagued the country, suddenly turning people to sand. The ruler of Alicetel, Noah, insists that this worldwide disease is the result of Protea's evil government. The people of Alicetel thus believe they are fighting a holy war against Gran org (good ole propaganda).

The story opens with Stok and his subordinates Renny and Marko being sent out into Gran org to rescue a secret agent for Alicetel. After saving the agent, the group suddenly finds themselves surrounded by the Gran org army, and Stok is severely wounded. He awakens in Historia, a world where time and space are warped. There, a group of mysterious children give him the ability to travel through time and space. He is told that the world needs his power. Stok will use his power to travel between the past and future of two parallel worlds, and will be tasked to create a proper history by either changing the past or even changing the future.

Radiant Historia is set to be released in Japan on November 4th. We will update you if we find out that the title will be find itself outside the country.
