Disgaea 4 Brings the Battle Online

A couple of months ago at this year's Tokyo Game Show, Nippon Ichi finally let the cat out of the bag when it announced that Disgaea 4 will be released with a treasure trove of updates including high-definition sprites and new game modes.

One of those modes is the highly-demanded-but-never-acquiesced online feature, a first for the series. Players will be able to custom build their own pirate ships (!!!) and choose what characters they want to set sail with to duke it out with other live players. To keep the game balanced, only players of the same rank will be able to attack each other, so don't worry about bringing your level 100 characters to face off some addict with his level 9999 army. Unfortunately, no other details about this mode have been revealed, but just the idea is an exciting one to say the least.

Some of the other features revealed was the ability to transfer your saved data from Disgaea 3, though it is unclear what exactly can be brought over, along with a modified "magichance" system that grants the ability for players not only to breed monsters with one another, but to also cross-breed HUMANS with monsters to create some pretty twisted chimera!

Disgaea 4 is set to be released this February in Japan and sometime during the summer in America.
