Final Fantsy XIII nabs a Playstation Awards Platinum Prize

Final Fantasy XIII has been awarded a Platinum Prize at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan's Playstation awards, netting what is quite possibly the first of the awards season for the title which launched in March.

Every year, Sony Japan's Playstation awards give props to the games that sell the most but also the games that users vote for. Final Fantasy XIII was the only Playstation title this year to land the Platinum Award, which requires the game to Ship over 1 million copies in the motherland of Japan. A Gold Award, meanwhile, only requires 500,000 units shipped.

Other RPGs like Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Phantasy Star Portable 2 and Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep all grabbed Gold Awards.

Non-RPGs Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and God of War 3 walked away with the users choice awards - awarded based on user votes as the games that Playstation fans most enjoy playing. Can't 'em all, RPG fans.
