Mass Effect 2 PS3 PSN download is "about 12gb"

Bioware confirmed earlier today that Mass Effect 2's PS3 version will also be available as a download direct from the Playstation Network, eliminating the need for a disc. The immediate shout from fans was: how big is it?

Being a two-disc game on the Xbox 360 and PC, Mass Effect 2 was a rather hefty release - and the PS3 version of the game includes some of the downloadable content, which also weighs in at a couple of extra gigabytes on the 360 and PS3.

Grace Chen, the Senior Manager of the Playstation Store, answered the cries in the comments to the post on the Playstation Blog about Mass Effect 2's PSN release, revealing, bluntly, "It's about 12GB."

There it is, then. Chen also confirmed that "Playstation Plus subcribers can also download and play the full game trial (60 minutes of play time) starting on Jan 18." - a nice added bonus thanks to the downloadable version of the game. It's out on PS3 in North America and Europe next week. We'll bring you a full review as quickly as we can - but in the meantime, check out the recently released Launch Trailer below.
