FF4: The After heading West for Wii and Possibly other Platforms

A while back we reported that sources inside Square Enix had promised us that Final Fantasy IV: The After was coming to Western shores for the Nintendo Wii, most likely as an online download for Nintendo's WiiWare service.

While no announcement has been made by Square Enix, the information from our source at Square Enix Europe has now been confirmed thanks to ratings authority the ESRB.

The ESRB have posted a page detailing the rating given to the Final Fantasy IV sequel, now titled "The After Years", confirming it is indeed heading West. The page only mentions the format being Wii, but our source has indicated the sequel could show up on other online services like Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network. If this turns out to be the case remains to be seen.

Final Fantasy IV: The After is a sequel to the SNES classic taking place several years after the ending of the game. Gameplay, graphics and music are all styled after the SNES original, leaivng flashy graphics to the newer Final Fantasy titles.

The game continues the plot of Final Fantasy IV and sees many popular characters make their return.

We'll bring you more as we get it.
