Pokemon Legends Arceus: Black Augurite location for evolving Scyther to Kleavor

Among the many new Pokemon evolutions present in Pokemon Legends Arceus, Kleavor is one of the trickier to catch. This alternate evolution for Scyther forgoes Scizor's Steel-typing for a Rock-typing, featuring a pair of stone axes for arms instead of a pair of scissors, or scythes. That being said - where do you find a Scyther in Pokemon Legends Arceus in the first place, and how exactly do you evolve it?

Pokemon Legends Arceus: Where to find Scyther

The location of Scyther in Pokemon Legends Arceus, which you'll need to catch to evolve to Kleavor.

Scyther is a classic first-generation Pokemon, and so perhaps it's unexpected that it shows up in the earlier areas of Pokemon Legends Arceus for a bit of familiarity for players. Finding a Scyther is fairly straightforward - you'll find that they spawn close-by to where you take on Lord Kleavor during the story, meaning that a bunch of Scyther spawns are located next to the Grandtree Arena, which of course is to the north of the Obsidian Fieldlands area.

Occasionally Scyther swarms have a chance to spawn nearby, too - so keep an eye out for these as well! Swarms are a great way to find shiny Pokemon. Remember to catch at least one extra Scyther to keep, as you'll need a Scyther for one of the game's side quests, request 51.

Later in the game, higher-level, more powerful Scyther spawn in the Primeval Grotto area of the Coronet Highlands, also - but they are by far the most common at the Grandtree Arena, as the images above showcase.

Where to find Black Augurite for evolving Scyther into Kleavor

Preparing to use the Black Augurite item on Scyther.

Scyther is on the list of Pokemon in Legends Arceus that have special evolution requirements - specifically, an item is needed to evolve Scyther into Scizor for many Pokemon generations - but now you can also evolve into new Hisui Pokemon Kleavor, a rock-type Scyther evolution. The item that you'll need to evolve Scyther into Kleavor is Black Augurite.

This is important, as you can't catch Kleavor in the wild, so evolving from Scyther is the only way you can get your hands on this cool, rare Pokemon that you'll first encounter as part of the story. As such, you'll need to know the Black Augurite location.

Black Augurite is a rare item, and is actually rarer than most evolution items in that it doesn't even show up in the Merit Point exchange where you spend MP earned from returning lost satchels. Instead, you can get Black Augurite in three diferent ways:

  1. Black Augurite can potentially be dug up through Ursaluna's treasure tracking. This is very rare, and Ursaluna can also dig up any number of other items instead - so it's not recommended to search for the item this way. If you decide to do it, however, you simply need to hop on Ursaluna's back and follow the pulsing lines until prompted to dig for treasure.
  2. Black Augurite can drop from Gravelers out in the field, after battling them. This is the much better method for grinding one out, as Gravelers are everpresent throughout much of Hisui, and the drop rate is much more consistent. Graveler spawns in every single biome of the game, and is most common in particular in the Crimson Mirelands, and around the Cobalt Coastlands volanco area.
  3. Black Augurite appears as a rare drop inside Space-Time Distortions. All of the various evolution items are available as drops in Space-Time Distortions - once the distortion is going and rare Pokemon are spawning, random items will drop across the area as long as the distortion is active. This is arguably just as reliable as farming Graveler, though you have to find a distortion first.
Defeating or catching Graveler is one of the most reliable ways of getting Black Augurite.

Once you've got your hands on some Black Augurite, all you'll need to do is select it while a Scyther is in your party, and then choose to evolve it. Congrats on your new Pokemon!

A lovely new Kleavor, one of the new Pokemon in Legends Arceus.
