Pokemon Legends Arceus: Alolan Vulpix locations for Snow-White Vulpix in the Snow

While it's not required for the Pokedex, there's a certain request in Pokemon Legends Arceus that allows players to get themselves an Alolan Vulpix - an Ice-type variant of the classic first-generation Pokemon that first made its debut back in Pokemon Sun and Moon.

The actual process of getting your Alolan Vulpix is pretty simple, but you're going to be required to find 5 of the snow-white critters standing around in the Avalanche Slopes in the Alabaster Icelands. Here are all the locations where to find the 5 Alolan Vulpix necessary to complete the request.

Snow-White Vulpix in the Snow - how to start Request 83

Keaka, the main NPC for the Alolan Vulpix Request

Before you can get your very own Alolan Vulpix, you'll need to start the assocaite side quest - which is Request 83, Snow-White Vulpix in the Snow. Which is a rather cumbersome quest name, to be honest. The quest-giver is Keaka, and the quest will crop up on the Galaxy HQ message baord eventually - but you must have caught a regular Vulpix before the request pops.

We've got a guide on this quest, as well as all others in the game, on our Pokemon Legends Arceus requests walkthrough guide. However, on this page, we'll specifically cover the Vulpix locations in more detail.

Once you've picked up the quest, go head to Keaka and talk to him. Once you've done so, you'll be able to start the request in earnest. Keaka is from the Alola region, and the Vulpix that have escaped actually belong to him, and hail from his home region. You have to catch them.

Receiving your Alolan Vulpix

Receiving your Alolan Vulpix

Once you've found all 5 of the Alolan Vulpix hiding out in the wild, return to Keaka to receive his thanks - and one of his trusty Vulpix will decide to go along with you. Alongside the new Vulpix companion, completing his request will have netted you an Exp. Candy L. However, now that you've received your Alolan Vulpix... what's the process of evolving it?

Evolving Alolan Vulpix into Alolan Ninetales

An Alolan Ninetales

Alolan Vulpix, much like regular Vulpix, requires an item to evolve. However, the item that it requires is different - owing to the fact that, naturally, it has a much different elemental affinity compared to its original counterpart. So, the same evolution method, but a different item. To that end, you'll want an Ice Stone for this evolution.

Ice Stones are also used to evolve Eevee into Glaceon, You can find these in the Item Exchange, as a drop inside Space-Time Distortions, occasionally for sale at the Ginkgo Guild, and you have a chance of finding one when sending a Pokemon to clean up a snow pile in the Icelands proper.

Evolving an Alolan Vulpix

Regardless of how you've found the stone - simply use it on your Alolan Vulpix to get the Ice/Fairy Type Alolan Ninetales. As one last warning, don't ever release this Pokemon! Releasing Pokemon is useful, but not in this instance! You're only ever able to get one Alolan Vulpix, so if you accidentally - or purposefully - release it, there's no way to replace it without finding someone willing to trade you theirs.
