If you ask some of the most die-hard fans of Persona 3 and Persona 3 Portable, many will say that Akinari Kamiki has one of the most profound and memorable social link storylines in the game - and many would suggest prioritizing hanging out with him.
Like all of the other S-Links, spending time with Akinari will improve fusion for Sun arcana Persona - but honestly, the storyline is a major reason to meet this character. This guide features all of the dialogue choices for both the male and female protagonists to help you see all of this story and hit rank 10 efficiently.
Akinari Kamiki S-Link Guide - Sun
This guide walks you through every rank of the Persona 3 Portable Akinari Social Link while keeping things as spoiler-free as possible. We make sure that every dialogue choices you pick results in the best possible outcome.
In Persona 3, S-Link relationships rank up when a hidden experience counter hits a certain value. Hanging out with the character in question grants EXP, but so does saying the right things - which is what this guide is for, to help you min-max and speed up the social link process.
While the story of Akinari plays out similarly for both, the dialogue choices differ slightly for P3P’s male and female protagonists - so we list the choices for both separately. The only choices listed here are those that actively grant bonus points - if a dialogue choice isn’t listed, you can say anything you like. For Akinari, this actually matters less than most others - as his S-Link ranks up on a more linear path. Still, we list the choices that give bonus points anyway.
Finally, the bonus point values listed are those with the Arcana bonus, which is earned by having a matching Arcana Persona in your party when you hang out. In short, always have a Sun Arcana Persona with you when hanging out with Akinari.
- Once you’ve met him (more on that below), Akinari Kamiki can be hung out with on Sunday daytimes only. You’ll find him at Naganaki Shrine.
Unlock & Rank 1:
To start the Sun Arcana social link with Aninari, there’s a few steps, including dealing with other S-Links that are detailed elsewhere in this Persona 3 Portable Social Link guide:
- You’ll first need to reach Rank 3 of the Hanged Man S-Link with Maiko, where you’ll meet him.
- Then, you’ll need Rank 4 (Smart) in your Academics Social stat.
- With that done, you can visit Akinari at the Naganaki Shrine on a Sunday. He mentions his lost fountain pen, and a familiar-sounding critter.
- Once Koromaru joins SEES in August, talk to him in the Dormatory; you’ll get the pen back.
- Now return to Akinari and talk to him at the shrine on a Sunday. This starts the social link.
- For both the Male and Female Protagonist, this rank up is entirely automatic once you hang out. You can say whatever you want.

- While there are choices in this encounter, none of them matter from a stats perspective - but it is a satisfying epilogue to this social link story.
