Fire Emblem Engage: How to trigger the Lookout Ridge event to unlock the Edelgard Ring

If you purchase the DLC expansion pass for Fire Emblem Engage, one of the first things you'll be looking to take advantage of is the ability summon Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude from the other Nintendo Switch FE title to join your battle as Emblems. However, the game also doesn't exactly make clear how tha three are unlocked.

On this page, we quickly run down how to get the Edelgard ring (or actually, the Edelgard bracelet... more on that in a moment) by triggering the special event at Lookout Ridge - and what to expect from the Three Houses Emblems once they're unlocked to join your FE Engage party.

Visiting Lookout Ridge at the correct time will unlock Edelgard and co, one of the most unique Emblems in the game due to the fact it's a three-in-one.

How to get the Eldelgard Ring with the Lookout Ridge Event

When you first purchase the Fire Emblem Engage expansion pass, the game will flash up a screen explaining what the deal is with the expansion pass content. Of Emblem Edelgard, this prompt says that Eldelgard, Dimitri, and Claude "will join your group when you trigger the event at the Lookout Ridge in Somniel" - which sounds simple enough. But many people are asking - how on earth do you trigger the Lookout Ridge event?

The answer is so simple to be frustrating. The Emblem Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude event will trigger as soon as you step past a certain point on the Lookout Ridge Cliff Edge - but only once you've reached a certain phase of the main story of Fire Emblem Engage.

The bracelet that you get given at Lookout Ridge on Chapter 7 or beyond is how you unlock the Edelgard Emblem in Fire Emblem Engage.

Specifically, you'll need to Clear Chapter 6 ('The Stolen Ring') and enter Chapter 7 'Dark Emblem'. Entering Chapter 7 is the trigger for being able to unlock Emblem Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude

So, once you finish Chapter 6, elect to return to Somniel rather than the World Map, and then you can either walk or warp to Lookout Ridge. From the point the map warp drops you off at, you simply need to walk forwards a few steps - and the cutscene will trigger that introduces Emblem Edelgard and her friends. Instead of being inside a ring, the trio's Emblems reside inside a Bracelet, presumably because a ring would be too cramped for all three of them at once.

Remember, however, you must have the DLC Expansion Pass to do this.

Once unlocked, the trio work like any other Emblem in the game... but with a twist. About that--

How Emblem Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude work in Fire Emblem Engage

Fans of Three Houses can see Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude reunited as Emblems in Fire Emblem Engage.

While every other Emblem character in Fire Emblem Engage is a single warrior, things work a little differently with this trio, designed to reference their fractuous rival relationships back in Three Houses.

Specifically, the 'main' Emblem character is Edelgard - but she will cede and switch out in combat at random, replacing her presence with that of Dimitri or Claude. The sync skill of the Emblem changes depending on which of the three is present on the battlefield, as do the Combat Arts. As player, you can equip the Eldelgard Ring/Bracelet, but you can't control which of the three is out and available at any given time, sadly.

There is one occasion when all three are on the battlefield together, however - for the Engage Attack, Houses Unite. This brings together the strengths of all three house leaders, using axe, lance, and bow all at once.

After unlocking and meeting Edelgard and company, a Divine Paralogue unlocks for the trio, which you can tackle at your leisure.
