Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Masquerade Quest Guide

Kingdom Come: Deliverance has a series of side-quests involving Henry's friends from Skalitz - Matthew and Fritz. After you complete the relatively simple quests "A Friend in Need..." and "...Is a Friend Indeed", you can find them both at the Inn in the Glade, NW of Neuhof. You can start the quest "Masquerade", which is a little bit more involved than the previous quests.

[Note: Some have reported a bug that can halt progress in this quest. If you proceed to the Vranik Camp in the main storyline, it seems occasionally the quest is not completable due to a missing NPC named Olena. So to be safe, make sure to complete this side quest before that point, and save beforehand.]

Talk to Matthew at the Inn in the Glade to start the quest. Then talk to Fritz and exhaust dialogue options. Then talk to Andrew, who will lead you to the basement of the Inn. Here, be sure to select "There's coin in it." He'll then want you to collect three Cuman headgears and three Cuman armor pieces. The headpiece has to be one that fully covers the face, and the torso piece has to be a 'heavy' armor. You'll know which ones 'count' for the quest as you'll be updated on how many you need in your log. Note, any armor pieces on your horse do not count until you move them to Henry.

Now here's where things can be pretty loose, depending on your playstyle. Andrew will mark a few places on the map where you can fight Cumans, although you do not actually have to get armor from these places specifically. As long as a Cuman has the right gear, it doesn't matter where or when you get it. Cuman camps are always hostile, so be aware they will attack Henry if you get close. Camp D on the map has five Cumans, which might be too tough to take on all at once. Camp B has three. You can go at night and try to take out enemies while some are sleeping. You can also put the quest on hold for a bit as you complete other tasks, and just remember to take on Cumans if you see them, and check for the appropriate gear.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Getting the Raven Feathers, Wolf Fang, and Dog Pelt in Masquerade

In any case, once you have the armor pieces, go back to Andrew at the Inn in the Glade and .... it looks like your armor won't work. Despite taking down real Cumans, you need to dress as what people /think/ Cumans look like. Talk to Milomir in front of the tavern, exhaust his dialogue options, and he'll ultimately tell you to talk to three other NPCs about what """Cumans""" wear.

  • Bram the charcoal-burner NW of the Tavern mentions Raven Feathers. You can buy these at any of the herbalist shops, such as the one in the forest west of Uzhitz.
  • Olena in Talmberg will mention fangs. You can buy wolf fangs from the huntsman in Rattay. [Note: This is the NPC that some have mentioned disappears or 'dies' in their game, which seems to be a bug. If you experience this, you might need to reload to an earlier save.]
  • The stablehand in Uzhitz will mention Dog Skin. You can hunt the dog that lives next door to the Rattay Mill. Just shoot the dog with a bow at night. You might need the Hunter Perk Tanner here to get the skin, which requires at least level 5 in the skill. Otherwise, you can steal from a chest in Tanner's house in Talmberg.

Once you have all those, return to Andrew and you'll complete the quest. Any other tips? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
