Monster Hunter Stories 3 - All Endangered Monster Locations
Unlike the main series, Monster Hunter Stories 3 sees you befriending and conserving the monster population of the world, and that includes aiding in the repopulation of endangered species. However, to do that, you first need to get rid of the invasive monsters that drained their population in the first place.
To uncover the den that houses the endangered species, you must get the invasive species to lure you there by exploiting its weaknesses to make it retreat, a process that is unique for each monster.
We’ll break down every endangered species in the game, including where to find them, what invasive species live there, and how to get them to retreat to uncover the den.
Azuria Endangered Species
Rathian
Location: Sunpetal Plains, in a rocky area on the eastern edge of the map.
Invasive Monster: Yian-Gurga

Invasive Monser: Seregios, Level 60
How to make it retreat: Use Perfect Crush with a Hammer as it’s targeting you with its Invasive Scale Shot attack. Pay attention to the type of roar it uses the turn before to win the head-to-head, as follows:
- Onslaught Roar = Power Attack
- Defensive Roar = Technical Attack
- Quickening Roar = Speed Attack
Canalta Timberland Endangered Species
Canyne
Location: Blessing Hill, at the end of the river on the southern edge of the map.
Invasive Monster: Arzuros, Level 50

Mizutsune

Invasive Monster: Shogun Ceanataur, Level 60
How to make it retreat: Raise your Monstie’s defense level to L either using a Hunting Horn skill or Circle Stance Monstie skill. As the monster attacks it with its Invasive Claw Strike, causing it to break its claws.
Tarkuan Endangered Species
Zinogre
Location: Rococo Rocks, on the highest cliffs that run along the north edge of the area.
Invasive Monster: Odogaron, Level 85
How to make it retreat: Use a Monstie like Almudron that can use moves that trap it in mud, preventing it from igniting its claws.
Tigrex
Location: Colossal Dragon’s Remains, in the southernmost area, only accessible via a path around the tall rocks in the southwest of Rococo Rocks.
Invasive Monster: Diablos, Level 44
How to make it retreat: When the monster burrows, wait for three spots to appear. Then, using a Hammer, target one of the spots with the Meteor Smash/Meteor Hammer skill. It is seemingly random which one it pops out of, so it might take a few tries before you get lucky.
Serathis Endangered Species
Barioth
Location: Glacial Caps, in the northeast corner. You’ll need to jump across the tall rock pillars to reach the area.
Invasive Monster: Khezu, Level 44
How to make it retreat: When the monster begins acting strangely, it will use Power Attacks. Use Double Attacks with your Monstie to prevent it from moving twice, then use a Kinship Skill to prevent it from moving a third time. This will prevent it from recharging its energy, causing it to retreat.
