Monster Hunter Stories 3 - How to get all Monstie movement abilities
The world of Monster Hunter Stories 3 has a lot of obstacles to overcome if you want to uncover everything it has to offer. To do that, you’ll need to fill your party of Monsties with each of the nine different movement abilities needed in the field.
We’ll let you know the earliest place that you can find a Monstie for each of these abilities, and explain where to get them, so you can overcome any obstacle.
Once you have all of those abilities, it’d be the perfect time to get hunting for all of the Poogie locations in Monster Hunter Stories 3.
Jump, Fly, Melee Attack, Roar, and Breath
These first five all get lumped together as they’re all usable by the Rathalos you get at the start of the game. You’ll have this Monstie from the moment you first get access to the open world, so there’s nothing to worry about here.
Wall Climb
For wall climbing, you’ll have the Tobi-Kadachi that will also be in your starting party of Monsties, so you can scale any climbable cliffs right out of the gate.
Swim
Swimming is the first ability you’ll have to go out of your way for, as you’ll need a Royal Ludroth to embark upon the water. These can be found in the Sunpetal Plains area of Azuria by hatching the green and yellow-striped Leviathan eggs. They’re pretty common in the Monster Dens, so it shouldn’t take long.
Ground Dive
The Ground Dive is essential for getting to some of the most remote locations in the game. It lets you interact with specific spots in the field that will transport you to otherwise unreachable locations.
The first Monstie that can do it is the Canyne, which you’ll get as part of the main story in the Canalta Timberlands by restoring their habitat, so check out our guide on endangered species in Monster Hunter Stories 3 for more on that.
Stealth
Stealth isn’t the most important of the abilities, but it is useful in select scenarios. It allows you to wander by unnoticed by monsters in the field, letting you avoid dangerous fights when exploring.
The only problem is that it’s quite a rare ability to find on Monsties. However, if you’re skilled, you can get it as early as the Canalta Timberlands by restoring the Nargacuga habitat. To do this, you’ll need to head to the eastern area of Blessing Hill, where you’ll find an Invasive Narscylla that must be dealt with before you can get an egg for this rare beast.
