Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on September 4 worldwide for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam, Epic). Onimusha: Way of the Sword pre-order bonus
There are two different pre-order bonuses. The Deluxe and Premium Deluxe pre-order bonus is a set containing the 'Lion Dog' and 'White Monkey' charms, and the 'Sealed Curse' and 'White Lion' sword appearances. The base game pre-order bonus is a set containing a 'Lion Dog' charm and 'Sealed Curse' sword appearance. The bonus applies to those who pre-order or acquire the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 digital versions before 11:59PM EDT / 8:59PM PDT on September 24. The bonus applies to those who pre-order the Steam or Epic Games digital versions before 7:59PM EDT / 4:59PM PDT on September 25.
How to upgrade from the Onimusha: Way of the Sword standard edition to Deluxe or Premium Deluxe editions
You can upgrade from standard to Deluxe by purchasing the Deluxe Kit for $19.99. You can upgrade from Deluxe to Premium Deluxe by purchasing the Premium Deluxe Kit ($19.99). You can upgrade from the standard to Premium Deluxe directly by purchasing the Premium Deluxe Kit ($29.99).
Onimusha: Way of the Sword free DLC
There is currently a free Materials Pack - Red Souls 1 DLC available including 2500 x Red Souls. The wording implies more will be released. It remains to be seen if Capcom sells these as paid microtransactions like with Devil May Cry 5.
Where to claim Onimusha: Way of the Sword DLC in-game
So far, Capcom has revealed the following about the DLC and where to claim items:
- Equipping charms will strengthen Miyamoto Musashi's abilities
- Charms can be changed on the Equipment screen accessible in-game
- Sword appearances are cosmetic items that change the appearance of Miyamoto Musashi. They do not alter his performance in battle.
- You can change sword appearances by selecting Change Appearance from the Spirit Mirror menu in-game.
- Spirit Mirrors and the Equipment screen will become unlocked separately as the game progresses.
