Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising introduces its three main characters, gameplay shown at 505's TGS stream

During 505 Games' Tokyo Game Show stream, the publisher revealed more details and gameplay for Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising. A new Nintendo Switch version was announced, such that the game is set to release in Spring 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Games Pass, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic). This follows some footage shown yesterday at Microsoft's TGS event.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is something of a spinoff of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, a Suikoden series spiritual successor Kickstarted in 2020. Since development on Hundred Heroes was going to take several years — not planned for release until 2023 — creator Yoshitaka Murayama decided to release a spinoff game in the meantime, introducing the Eiyuden world while offering a different style of gameplay.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is mostly a sidescroller RPG (while Hundred Heroes will be more directly in the traditional Suikoden vein), developed in partnership with Natsume-Atari. It features three primary characters: the slow-but-heavy-hitting Garoo, the nimble climbing-ax-wielding JB, and the magic-slinging Isha. The gameplay shown at the event highlights how players will take all three characters into sidescrolling dungeons, frequently switching between them to take out foes in various ways. Seven characters from Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes are also said to make an appearance.

When Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising was announced at E3 2021, 505 Games stated it will also feature town-building elements, though these have not yet been shown in detail.

As for the main title, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, 505 Games and Rabbit & Bear Studios didn't have much in the way of new details, but reconfirmed the game is set to release in 2023 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Games Pass, and PC (Steam, Epic). A Nintendo Switch version is in consideration, and a survey will be released to gauge interest.
