Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness reportedly no longer in development

Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness — a free-to-play mobile title announced in August 2021 by Hive (a Japanese subsidiary of Korean-based Vespa) — is reportedly no longer in development according to TouchArcade, citing Korean sources such as GameMeca. Reportedly the announcement was made in a shareholder meeting on March 25, with development costs cited as the reason for the halt in development.

The game was aiming to be a return to one of Sega's classic franchises with a development team familiar with creating mobile titles. The debut trailer (shown below) gave us a decent look at the game's style, alongside some classic returning characters such as Max, Bowie, Mae, and Sarah.

While a global release was never technically announced prior, licensing rights at the original announcement included North America and European regions. However, now we'll have to assume the project is on indefinite hold until further notice.
