Front Mission 2 Remake delayed, with "no specific revised release date"

Forever Entertainment's remake of classic mecha strategy RPG Front Mission 2 has hit a snag. The game was scheduled for release on June 12, 2023. However, in a message delivered via social media and a press release, Forever Entertainment announced that the game will not make its target date.

The statement was signed by the "Forever Entertainment Team", and cites the need to "ensure that we have sufficient time" and "meet your expectations for a modern-day remake." Thus, the game is delayed, without a specific revised date available. The team said that it will continue to work on Front Mission 2: Remake, "with the aim" of releasing the game in the third quarter of 2023 (between July and September 2023). They did not specify what issues led to the decision being made.

Front Mission 2: Remake is being developed by Storm Trident, and is based on G-Craft's 1997 PlayStation original. Front Mission 2 expands on the mechanics of the original SNES-based Front Mission, and is centered around turn-based tactical battles between squads of walking mecha called Wanzers. Its story takes place 12 years after Front Mission, in the fictional South Asian nation of Alordesh. The plot stars three individuals from the Oceania Cooperative Union (OCU), who are caught in the middle of a coup attempt by the Alordeshi Armed Forces. Remake will be the first time Front Mission 2 has been officially playable outside Japan, as the original game never received an international release.
