Borderlands 2 Collector's Editions and Box Art revealed

Borderlands was a bit of a surprise break-out hit back when it launched in 2009, and so it's no surprise that 2K want to make the most of its sequel - and have announced one part of the plan to do so by confirming that it'll have two tiers of Collector's Edition when it launches in September.

The first, the 'Deluxe Vault Hunter's Collector's Edition' includes a copy of the game, a bobblehead figure based on the Russian-accented weapons vendor Marcus Kincaid, a hardbound book of the art and design of the game, a set of stickers, a map of Pandora and two digital downloads - one for a digital comic telling some backstory and another which will reward in-game bonus content.

The top-tier edition is called the 'Ultimate Loot Chest Edition' and includes a (sadly not to scale) real-life replica of the Weapon Chests from the game. Contained within is everything from the deluxe edition, a chart of the creatures of Pandora, a set of lithograph postcards, in-universe field notes and a numbered certificate of authenticity. The paper map from the deluxe edition is also swapped out for a cloth one.

Players who pre-order either of the special editions or even the normal version of the game from select retailers will also get a care package of extra content free of charge. That includes a Gun Pack, a key that unlocks an extra loot chest in the game and a 'Relic' which will give you better luck with loot drops.

Pre-order customers will also get free access to an extra, fifth character class - the Mechromancer. The mechromancer won't be available at launch but will be free of charge to players who pre-ordered when it is made available as post-launch DLC.
