Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter's Japanese PS5 and Switch versions will not include English language support
Following its recent release date announcement, Falcom has confirmed that the PS5 and Switch versions of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter in Japan will not include English language support.
For prior Falcom games, this wasn't a surprise considering they launched in Japan usually a few years or a year prior to the Western release. With Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, it is Falcom's first worldwide simultaneous multi-platform launch. With other publishers, the Japanese physical and digital console versions do include English. We've seen this with many Square Enix, Arc System Works, and even Sony's releases like Rise of the Ronin.
While some might not be surprised by this, given the whole multiple publishers handling the same game on the same day across different regions, this is more of a PSA that the PS5 and Switch versions in Japan will not include English support. Falcom's product page also mentions how there will be two different Steam releases. The first is being handled by GungHo with English, French, German, and Japanese support. This is the version for the West. The other is meant for Asia from Clouded Leopard Entertainment featuring Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese support.

In the past, this might have not been as confusing with different release dates, but considering the worldwide simultaneous launch, the console language support is notable especially for those who might potentially want to import the game or a specific edition. The Steam version will be available on September 19 directly and the product page from Falcom mentions it will go live for purchase at 16:00 JST which is midnight PDT.
If you missed the recent news around the game, we had the English and Japanese voice cast revealed for the game with physical pre-orders going live on consoles.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter launches worldwide on September 19 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).
