Indie martial arts roguelike RPG Karate Rogue launches for PC via Steam this Fall the earliest

Terry-do Games revealed that they will release Karate Rogue for PC via Steam. The studio has yet to specify a release window for this indie roguelike RPG, but they have noted in the press release that they plan to release it in Fall 2025 or later.

This game will let the player become a karate master who ended up getting banished to a dungeon. It will have a gameplay system where the player can unleash multiple attacks in one go via the ACT points, or set defensive and counter-attack stances to anticipate attacks from the enemy monsters.

The Japanese press release also reveals the key staff members behind this indie game. Leading the group is Eito Terry, who had also worked on the stories for several Square Enix titles while authoring his own novels like Karate Baka in Another World, which has also received a manga adaptation localized as Karate Master Isekai. The monsters in this game are being designed by Ginoya, who previously worked on the graphics for a number of Square Enix games like Romancing SaGa Re;Universe, Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, and the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series. Meanwhile, the game's soundtrack is being worked on by Tomoaki Oga, who was one of the composers in the Generation VII Pokemon entries Sun & Moon as well as Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

A fusion of martial arts and roguelike dungeon crawling—build your fighter, master lethal techniques, and conquer the abyss with your fists alone.

Strike. Survive. Evolve.

Features

  • Tactical Turn-Based Combat with Combo Chains: Combine a variety of moves to conquer hordes of demons! Strike while defending. Parry while striking. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Each time you survive, you master a new art.

  • Item Collection and Survival: A foot in steel boots makes for a powerful kick—but a hand gripping the legendary holy sword won’t throw a punch. Food that restores HP may be more valuable in the dungeon, but don’t overlook items that enhance your abilities.

  • Experience the Story of a Karate Master: Thrown into the abyss as punishment, stripped of all but your fists, you must fight to survive. Encounter allies and enemies, beasts and threats, as you uncover the essence of martial arts and the eldritch truths.
