Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D is coming to Switch 2 alongside previously revealed platforms on October 30

Last week, we had the chance to go hands-on with Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, and part of our preview opportunity included an early look at the game's release date, as well as a new release platform. In addition to the previously announced release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) - the game will also be releasing day and date on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 30, 2025. We weren't briefed on if there would be a free or paid upgrade for this release of the game, though we'll update you if or when any such clarification arrives.

Previously Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D remake was showcased during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, alongside a new trailer hinting at some new content that might be coming with these remakes. Alongside today's announcement, Square Enix has released a new batch of screenshots which should help make the long wait until the game's release just a little bit more bearable. Stay tuned for more updates in the weeks and months ahead.
