1986 MSX version of the classic action RPG Tritorn gets an EGG Console Switch port on June 19
D4 Enterprise has revealed that they will release a new EGG Console port of Tritorn based on its 1986 MSX version for Nintendo Switch on June 19. The company has set up Nintendo eShop pages for the port worldwide including in the US storefront, where it will cost $6.49.
This is not the first version of the game to be ported to Switch, though. D4 Enterprise had previously ported the 1985 PC-8801 version of the same title to the Switch last year in June 2024. The company noted, though, that the MSX version had a considerably different gameplay approach compared to other releases due to having stronger bosses.

In this masterpiece action RPG, the brave warrior Triton rises to restore peace to Luwanda Island. The MSX version features different strategies!
Released in Japan by SEIN SOFT in 1986, this side-scrolling action RPG casts players as the hero Triton in an adventure to defeat monsters and restore peace to Luwanda Island, controlled by "Pay-Valusa."
Tritorn primarily fights using jumps and sword strikes. By anticipating the enemy's movements, he will swing his sword, and executing a sword strike from a jump inflicts double damage, showcasing an advanced technique. Furthermore, as Tritorn grows, he learns magic, allowing him to halt enemy movements or instantly eliminate them.
While the game is an action RPG, it's not just about defeating enemies. There are puzzle-solving elements incorporated, where defeating specific enemies in consecutively rewards players with items. Some puzzles may be challenging, but they add depth to the gameplay.
Featuring fast-paced action, skill-based combat, engaging puzzles, and three learnable magic spells as Tritorn grows, this game offers a rich experience for action RPG enthusiasts and is also recommended for newcomers.
The MSX (ROM cartridge) version features added powerful bosses and increased final boss attack patterns. Clearing later stages will likely require different procedures than other platforms.
