Persona 5: The Phantom X Japanese and Western updates will be accelerated to catch up with East Asia

Atlus and Sega held a new Japanese live stream detailing upcoming updates for Persona 5: The Phantom X. One of the biggest takeaways from this stream is that the companies will accelerate the updates for the Japanese and English versions of the free-to-play game so that they can eventually catch up with the Chinese and East Asian versions released earlier.

For the record, P5X first appeared in China in April 2024, and the country has also been getting the new updates firsthand. While the game was afterward released in the rest of East Asia—Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and South Korea, this region has pretty much caught up to China with only a week of delay. The Chinese version of P5X is currently in the middle of Chapter 4 for the main story, with Persona 3 Reload crossover content and characters also being gradually released.

The Japanese and Western English releases of P5X will get the Version 1.1 update after the maintenance on July 10. This update will primarily add the climax of the main story's Chapter 2, along with new Synergy events featuring Shun "Soy" Kano. And while the original Chinese release had a gap between the additions of the Phantom Idols YUI "BUI" and Minami "Marian" Miyashita, the Japanese and Western servers are implied to have them released simultaneously.

Update: For additional context, the Japanese stream added that Marian will not be immediately added to the standard character gacha banner after her limited banner has concluded. This marks a rather major shift from the original Chinese release, where she was added to the standard banner afterward.

As a side note, the Southeast Asian server went live a week later than the Japanese and Western releases, and is thus expected to get this update the following week.
