
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake on Nintendo Switch cannot be upgraded to the Nintendo Switch 2 version
Square Enix has published a new FAQ for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake confirming that there is no upgrade path for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions.
Square Enix also detailed that the Switch 2 and the Switch versions of the game are treated as separate games with no save data transfer between them. The Switch version can be played on Switch 2 via backward compatibility though.

So while Switch 1 save data for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake can be read by Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake for Nintendo Switch 2, there is no actual save data transfer for Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake to be clear.
