Fantasy Maiden Wars - Dream of the Stray Dreamer releases worldwide for PC Steam and Switch in 2025
Phoenixx has revealed that they will release a global English localization for Fantasy Maiden Wars - Dream of the Stray Dreamer. The PC version of this strategy RPG will be available via Steam in 2025. The English localized release will also be available later on Nintendo Switch.
This Touhou-themed strategy RPG is heavily inspired by the Super Robot Wars series, and it has its roots in the Japanese doujin game scene. The doujin circle Sanbondo initially released the following four episodic games for PC:
- Gensou Shoujo Taisen Kou (紅) - physically at Comiket 77 in December 2009, digitally in March 2016
- Gensou Shoujo Taisen You (妖) - physically at Reitaisai 9 in May 2012, digitally in October 2016
- Gensou Shoujo Taisen Ei (永) - physically at Comiket 86 in August 2014, digitally in February 2017
- Gensou Shoujo Taisen Mu (夢) - physically at Reitaisai 14 in May 2017, digitally in March 2018
Sanbondo would then compile the above four games and rework them all into Gensou Shoujo Taisen -Complete Box-, which was released physically at Comiket 96 in September 2019 and digitally via DLsite in December. This would also serve as a basis for Dream of the Stray Dreamer, which appeared first for Nintendo Switch in Japan in late March 2022.
