Persona 5: The Phantom X Japanese & English versions will have different timings on standard banner additions

The new Persona X-Stream for the version 1.2 release of Persona 5: The Phantom X includes explanations from Sega's Yuta Sakai regarding the changes they are making in the Japanese and English releases compared to the earlier Chinese and East Asian releases. One of the topics most talked about is Sega's decision to alter the timings of character additions to the permanent standard gacha banner to upcoming half-anniversaries.

For the record, the earlier releases have added several characters who debuted in limited gacha banners to the permanent standard banner, and one of them is Minami "Marian" Miyashita. In the Chinese server, she was added to the permanent standard banner right after her limited banner had ceased. However, this will not be the case with the newer Japanese and English releases.

In the previous Ver1.1 stream, the Japanese team noted that Marian would not join the standard banner roster immediately after the closure of her limited banner on July 24, without even specifying her actual addition window. Sakai only revealed in today's stream that the team will only add characters to the standard banner lineup after around 6 months on commemorative moments, such as half-anniversaries of the game.

Yuta Sakai made the explanation in both the English and Japanese streams. But while the English stream included subtitles, we noticed that Sakai made several different remarks in the Japanese stream.

Here's how we transcribed the original Japanese statement from the Japanese stream, which starts from the 12:35 mark:

And here is our translation of the excerpt:

Next up is information regarding the Phantom Idol Draft.

We have also received various opinions regarding the Phantom Idol Draft that uses Gold Tickets.

The preceding Chinese & Asian versions had characters who appeared in Limited Pick-Ups appearing later in the Gold Ticket Phantom Idol Draft; we will inform on how those periods will be changed.

For the timing when we add new characters to the Phantom Idol Draft in the Japanese & English versions, we plan for those to be at least half a year after or later, such as on a celebration timing or half-anniversaries.

Now we would like to explain our current policy in this handling change.

Regarding the 5-star characters added in version updates—right now it'd refer to the additions of Joker, YUI, & Minami—We want to create a timing where each of these characters can shine for a fixed time period, and we also want to remove the gaps between each character as much as possible. So for this Draft, we have decided to move the schedule so that they will be added in celebratory timings.

We apologize deeply for the late explanation and for not having explained about this enough beforehand.

It does not mean there will be no timing to get them until half a year later. We will prepare other timings to obtain them, such as re-runs in the future, so we hope you can wait for future information about those.

In the same stream, Sega also addressed complaints about the post-maintenance jewel rewards being fewer than the original releases, with only 100 jewels given following the Ver1.1 update. After the next Ver1.2 maintenance on July 24, the team will send 2 mails with 300 jewels each to match the 600 jewels given in the Chinese and Asian releases. However, this will also come with the removal of the single stamina-recovering Coffee Aid item.

The Japanese and Global English releases of Persona 5: The Phantom X will enter maintenance on July 24 to apply the Version 1.2 update, which primarily adds a new limited banner for Yusuke "Fox" Kitagawa and a new chapter inspired by the 2nd Palace from the original Persona 5. The Southeast Asian release, which got the previous update 8 days later, is expected to get this version on August 1.
