Monster Hunter Wilds weapon and pendant design contest grand winners announced
Capcom has finally revealed the grand winners of Monster Hunter Wilds' Original Weapon and Pendant Design Contest. The company will eventually implement these winning designs to the actual game next year in 2026. Nolan Lu's Shatterseal will appear as a Great Sword as intended, while ikei's SOS Meating Pendant won the latter contest.
This marks a culmination of the contests that ran throughout this Summer. Capcom opened submissions throughout June, and they later let the public vote for the top 8 designs in each category in mid-July, before the staff team decided the single grand winners.
As for the release window, be advised that while the English webpage mentions "early 2026," the original Japanese webpage has a broader timeframe in the "first half of 2026". In either case, Monster Hunter Wilds is readily available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.
You can also check out the winning designs and staff commentaries, as published on the English webpage, right below.

Out of all the designs submitted, we could only select one to bring to life. It was a tough decision, but in the end we chose this design that we believe will resonate with a wide range of players.
The concept drew us in right away. Just the mention of a shattered mirror, a mysterious monster sealed in its reflection, fractured space, and fragments merging into a single mirror was enough to ignite our imagination. The design strikes a dramatic balance: the elegance of intricate golden details and glittering shards set against the fierce, untamed presence of the monster within.
Instead of beginning with a pristine mirror, the idea starts with scattered pieces drifting apart. This creates a bold and dynamic silhouette that stays visually striking. We also felt the idea of scattered fragments gradually merging into a single form during gameplay would open the door to some truly exciting effects.
It's shaping up to be a weapon so distinctive that even hunters who don't often wield great swords may find themselves tempted to give it a try. We can't wait for you to experience it once it's complete.

This contest also marked our very first pendant design submission, and once again, we were overwhelmed by the number of entries. Thank you!
The winning pendant captures an unforgettable scene from the game in an adorable design. Inspired by an early adventure in the Windward Plains, it's sure to bring a smile to the faces of many hunters. We especially loved the playful touches like the change from a simple chunk of meat to a bone-in cut, or the slight expressive differences in the rear Felyne. These details add a wonderful sense of humor.
Even the pendant's base is modeled after one of the cooking grills found at the Ingredient Center—showing a close attention to detail and a real affection for the Support Team trio, Tom, May, and Toh.
Once complete, we hope you'll enjoy chasing down a Quematrice or two with this pendant dangling at your side!
