Lou Magmell
The Protagonist's Counterpart, with the Power to Travel Through Time
A Revenant girl who revived the protagonist — who lost his life during a mission as a Revenant Hunter — by giving him her own heart. She holds the special power to follow someone's Pathos and leap into the past. With the mission to save the world, she embarks on a journey to the past alongside the protagonist.
Valentin Voda
The Serene Pioneer of the Progenitor's Bloodline
He is the heir to the Voda House, a Revenant lineage descended from the Progenitor and one of the most formidable bloodlines among their kind. He once led MagMell as a magical research institute, delving into the secrets of ancient formae. He also holds the title of a judicial magistrate, acting as an arbiter to settle disputes between vampires and humans.
Josee Anjou
The Tragic Queen Burdened by Guilt
The Revenant who rules the Sunken City. She built shelters to protect the last survivors in the world, but she is also haunted by a failure from her past — an inability to stop a massive Resurgence outbreak that caused unimaginable destruction. With the weight of that guilt, she fights tirelessly on the front lines, a constant guardian for the living.
Noah G Magmell
The Warrior of Resolve, Protector of Friends
A former human-turned-Revenant who belonged to Mag Mell's Research Institute 100 years in the past. To protect his friend Valentin, who values his strength above all else, he has become a personal bodyguard, taking on dangerous missions without hesitation.
Lyle Mcleish
The Lone Swordsman of the Pledge
A Revenant with exceptional talent, lauded as a master swordsman. He serves as the ace of The Dawn Chorus, an organization fighting to reclaim the Corroded Scar. His reckless fighting style, which disregards his own safety, is feared even by his allies, and he always operates on his own.
Holly Asturias
A Healer's Genius Against a Cursed Disease
A Revenant doctor at a clinic nestled deep in the forest. She wields the healing powers of the Luxuria Bloodline, a lineage rumored to be cursed, to tirelessly research the Resurgence and treat the twisted Revenants it creates.
Lavinia Voda
Heir to a Savior's Mission
A Revenant descendant of the Progenitor who saved the world from collapse. In this decaying world on the verge of ruin, she leads "MagMell", an organization fighting for humanity's salvation. She bestows the mission of salvation upon the protagonist and Lou, sending them back in time.
Partner System
As you delve into the past, you’ll meet characters like Joseé who can combine with you by offering their essence to be stored in a core in your back. This allows them to become a Partner who can fight by your side and share their powers with you.
If you choose to Summon a Partner, they’ll be facing your foes right along with you, and each Partner comes with their own strengths and abilities.
On the other hand, if you choose Assimilation, you’ll be able to take their power into your own hands, enhancing your stats and unleashing devastating attacks.
With your Partner’s support, you’ll reach new heights of strategic mastery and power. They allow the battle to become even more dynamic when you tag-team Horrors together, and their Assimilation abilities are high-impact options that let you switch it up on tough enemies.
These bonds are more than just tools of violence, these characters are key to your quest, and they’ll be with you outside of combat as well.
Combat - Weapons and Forma
Code Vein 2 expands the dynamic combat system further than before. The first game was well-known for its challenging combat against formidable and exciting enemies. As you seek to save the future, you’ll drain ichor from your enemies and build up strength to unleash powerful new Forma attacks while you also use new skills, wield new weapons, and take advantage of new types of movement and range options.
The new Rune Blades and Dual swords join the weapon arsenal of one and two-handed swords, bayonets, halberds, and hammers, giving your hunter more melee possibilities.
And of course, as before, you’ll be able to swap fluidly between styles to suit the moment.
Blood Veil attacks have returned as the new Jail equipment system. New attacks like Reaper and Bat increase the versatility of your tactical options.
Practice with all of these new blood actions and weapons to perfect your placement, hone your knowledge of enemy movements, and exploit any battlefield that awaits you.
You’ll also unlock new Forma - abilities that come from your Revenant bonds - which can change a mere weapon attack into a blistering ranged attack, a debilitating status aliment, an impossibly powerful sword strike and more.
One of the Forma that has been officially revealed is known as the “Absolute Execution Sword” - one of the bequeathed Forma. The gigantic sword it summons does devastating damage, although it can leave a sizable opening in your defense between swings.
Learn all of these new abilities and weapons to overcome a whole new array of terrifying bosses and enemies. It might be difficult, but the world is counting on you.
