Sakuna of Rice and Ruin: Hinuka's Traversing Spirit Tale releases for Android and iOS in Japan next February
Toho Games has revealed a launch window for the Japanese mobile release of Sakuna of Rice and Ruin: Hinuka's Traversing Spirit Tale. The free-to-play game will be available on Android and iOS in February 2026 in the country.
In addition, the company has published a summary of gameplay features from the first live stream that was held on the same day. The new game will feature not only characters from the original Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin game and the anime adaptation, but also more brand-new characters besides the new protagonist Hinuka.
Characters will be unlocked via single purchases from the shop with both paid and in-game Yakumo Shard currency. The same currency can also be used in gacha banners that will spawn soul gems that are used to enhance characters and scene illustrations that can be equipped to raise specific stats.
Rice crops will also form a key gameplay element in this title. After planting the crops, players will be able to make more detailed farming adjustments that will determine the harvests' quality when they are available 6 hours later. They can even use specific items to alter the weather and environment to improve the harvests even further. The harvested rice can then be equipped to a character to improve their stats.
There are currently 16 types of rice that can be grown, and each of them will also have a representative spirit, of which players can include one in their battle party compositions. A party consists of up to 4 characters, and the player can control the leader in the dungeon explorations.
