Dark Deity 2 is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Publisher indie.io and developer Sword & Axe have launched Dark Deity 2 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S today following its recent Nintendo Switch release and PC (Steam) debut.

Dark Deity 2, the acclaimed tactical RPG sequel to the indie hit Dark Deity, is now available on  Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Developed by Sword & Axe LLC and published by indie.io, this marks the first time the series has appeared on PlayStation and Xbox, introducing its deep strategy, emotional storytelling, and stunning pixel art to a whole new audience of tactical RPG fans.

Set 25 years after the events of Dark Deity, the sequel returns players to the war-torn realm of Verroa, where the Eternal Order once restored peace—but a new empire now seeks to claim it. While longtime fans will recognize familiar echoes of the world and its legacy, Dark Deity 2 is built as a fully standalone adventure, allowing newcomers to dive in and experience a rich, self-contained story. Players will lead Gwyn and Riordian, descendants of the original heroes, as they unite twenty unique warriors to resist a vast and holy invasion. Commanding the Eternal Delegation, players will forge alliances, decide the fate of kingdoms, and outmaneuver powerful foes across 30 story-driven chapters of fully voice-acted tactical combat.

At the heart of Dark Deity 2 is its turn-based tactical combat, where every decision shapes the battlefield and the fate of Verroa. Under their leadership, players command 20 legendary heroes across 45 branching classes, each with unique abilities, passives, and tactical roles. From cosmic sorcerers to crocodile-summoning wardens, blood-soaked cultists to noble knights, every unit offers new possibilities for experimentation and synergy. A reworked ability and enhancement system—featuring runes, rings, and flexible skill combinations—lets players craft hybrid builds and push the limits of traditional tactics.

Beyond combat, Dark Deity 2 delivers deep campaign customization inspired by community-made randomizers. Players can fine-tune difficulty, adjust recruitment order, and modify progression stats like XP, gold, and aptitude growth to create a challenge perfectly matched to their playstyle. Each run unfolds differently—not only in strategy but in story—thanks to dynamic recruitment paths and player-driven decisions that reshape Verroa’s destiny.

Dark Deity 2’s fully voice-acted main campaign features performances from an acclaimed cast led by Allegra Clark (Apex Legends, Jujutsu Kaisen) as Queen Rashida, alongside other notable voice actors who bring Verroa’s heroes and villains vividly to life.
