Farnia Village Kickstarter campaign concludes with over ¥31,000,000 / $200,000 amassed
The Kickstarter campaign for Farnia Village has just concluded. The new farming life action RPG made by former key staff members behind Rune Factory 3 & 4 is now formally greenlit, with PC as the first intended platform.
While Shinichi Manabe had first set 5 million yen as the initial goal, the crowdfunding campaign ended up amassing more than 6 times that amount. The final amount recorded is ¥31,930,842 (approximately $204,677). All stretch goals for the project were also achieved, even as Manabe gradually added more goals in the closing days.
The stretch goals were as follows:
- ¥8 million - Inn Family Characters (Mother & Twins) - The Mother has since been named Hatsuyuki in the Japanese version so far
- ¥12 million - More Story Dungeons
- ¥15 million - Son & Daughter Characters
- ¥18 million - More Crops & Flowers
- ¥20 million - Many New Music Tracks
- ¥21 million - Swimsuits for the Protagonists
- ¥23 million - Swimsuits for the Romanceables
- ¥24 million - Loungewear for the Protagonists
- ¥26 million - Loungewear for the Romanceables
- ¥29 million - Winter Outfits for the Protagonists and Romanceables
- ¥30+ million - Japanese simple voice lines for the Protagonists (eg. quick greetings and battle grunts)
However, Manabe also noted that the last couple of stretch goals may end up being implemented later than launch. Any extra pledges beyond the ¥29 million mark will also be used to fund more voice lines like conversation exclamations, which will be added in a later post-launch update.
One of the key reveals made throughout the campaign pertains to the romanceable characters. Farnia Village is so far known to have 6 romance candidates available.
From left to right (The two in the middle are the protagonist choices)
- Bachelors: Aliassime, Zam, and Lamta
- Bachelorettes: Erykah, Kaguya, and Laplap
Farnia Village will have options to activate or deactivate romance based on the characters' genders. Depending on these settings and the chosen gender for the protagonist, players will be able to set different kinds of romance orientations: Heterosexual, Homosexual, Bisexual, or even Asexual. For characters who have the romance option turned off, they will have alternative events that depict friendly interactions and problem-solving activities.
One of the stretch goals reached also enables ManaGames to implement a child character from the protagonist's marriage. The upcoming child will inherit some of the behavioral traits from your spouse. The studio is also planning to have a different child delivery event based on whether the marriage is Heterosexual or Homosexual.
Based on what we have gained from Manabe-san, so far he is only planning to implement one child here, since more children would necessitate events that recognize them as siblings. However, there should be an option for whether the player can specify the child's gender (boy/girl) or not.
Farnia Village is currently slated to be available for PC, with Steam as the primary platform and DLsite also under consideration. Manabe-san currently estimates the game's development to take around three years, so the full release is expected around 2028.
