Cellar Door Games announces roguelike tactical RPG Neath, set to release for PC in 2026

Cellar Door Games (Rogue Legacy) has announced Neath, a roguelike tactical RPG set to release in 2026 for PC (Steam).

Neath features a fluid timeline system with a constantly-shifting turn order, as well as the ability to dictate actions of both friend and foe. According to Cellar Door cofounder Kenny Lee, Neath is a game the developer has "been wanting to make for years", inspired by video games like Into the Breach and tabletop games like Mansions of Madness.

Indie Developer Cellar Door Games, the developers behind the Rogue Legacy series, have revealed today during the PC Gaming Show Most Wanted 2025 their new game: NeathNeath is a roguelike tactical RPG set in a decaying world shadowed by an irradiated, inverted tower. Using a fluid turn-based system where the turn order is always shifting, you dictate the actions of both friend and foe alike.

“With deep inspiration from not only video games like Into the Breach, but also tabletop boardgames such as Mansions of MadnessNeath is a game we’ve been wanting to make for years,” said Kenny Lee,  Co-Founder and Lead Programmer at Cellar Door Games. “Development has taken us far from our comfort zone, working in an unfamiliar genre with an aesthetic much darker than what we usually do. But we’ve got a lot of new ideas, from ‘engagement locking’ to the ‘attack resolve system’, and we’re excited to see if we can move this burgeoning genre in a whole new direction. PRAISE NEATH!”

Neath is targeting a 2026 release on Steam. Cellar Door Games is inviting players to join their Discord channel to apply to upcoming closed beta periods next year.
