Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 get new Steam releases with save data not carrying over

Sega has released new versions of Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 for Steam today with the latter being added to the library for free for existing owners, but the former is available as a discounted upgrade.

With today's release, both the original games have been renamed to Yakuza Kiwami (Legacy) and Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Legacy) and are no longer available to buy. In addition to the new standalone releases at $19.99 each, a discounted bundle for both is available for newcomers. Check it out here. Sega has also confirmed that saves do not carry over from the legacy versions  to the new releases. I've included the Steam store page messages below for both games:

*If you have Yakuza Kiwami (Legacy), you can get Yakuza Kiwami at a discounted price.
*Yakuza Kiwami is a version of Yakuza Kiwami (Legacy) with additional text languages included. There are no differences in the basic game content or specifications.
*Save data from Yakuza Kiwami (Legacy) does not carry over to Yakuza Kiwami.

*Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a version of Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Legacy) with additional languages included. There are no differences in the basic game content or specifications.
*Save data from Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Legacy) does not carry over to Yakuza Kiwami 2.

Yakuza Kiwami is now available on PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series, and PC. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. The original games have been delisted now on all platforms, but existing owners can still download them from purchase history or libary.
