Utawarerumono: Shiro he no Michishirube releases in Japan on May 28
Aquaplus has revealed via Famitsu that Utawarerumono: Shiro he no Michishirube finally has a full release date in Japan. The new RPG will be available for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC via Steam on May 28.
Famitsu's article also includes an interview with Aquaplus' Naoya Shimokawa. One of the biggest highlights from this interview is the declaration from Aquaplus that Shiro he no Michishirube will be the final entry of the Utawarerumono project for the foreseeable future.
The same interview also has a few more tidbits, such as the game's story taking around 35 hours to finish while hearing the voices, or 20-25 hours for those who can quickly read the texts.
You can also find our translation of the specific interview segment declaring Shiro he no Michishirube as the final Utawarerumono entry, after the jump right below.
Famitsu: We are looking forward to it as fans, but there is also a concerning line in the document we have received... This game is said to be "the newest entry in the Utawarerumono series and the final entry in the Utawarerumono project". Are you going to conclude the very series itself? Or does it mean you're putting a break on the story for the likes of Haku and Oshtor? We would like to hear the definition of "final entry" here.
Shimokawa: The stories [Munemitsu] Suga wanted to write are all used up with this entry, so it's just as what's written: This entry shall be the final entry in the Utawarerumono project. [The free-to-play game] Lost Frag, which is still under active operations, is a different case, but there are no projects related to Utawarerumono being worked on behind the scenes. I don't know what will happen to Utawarerumono in the future, but we shall put a break here, and I think for now we'll want to focus on the developments of Jasmine and new IPs.
