More characters revealed for Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered include Karulau and Touka
Aquaplus has updated the Japanese official website for Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered (originally known in Japan as Shiro he no Michishirube - Guidepost to the White), introducing new characters found in the game. The company has also shared a public press release summarizing the new update.
Most of the newly revealed characters shown here are returning from prior Utawarerumono series releases. Namely, Karulau and Touka had also appeared in the earlier Utawarerumono trilogy, which chronologically takes place after this game, while Shunya's talking plushie Haru makes its return from Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten.
However, while Haru and Touka still have their respective voice actors (Kentaro Tone & Kaya Miyake) reprising their roles, Karulau's original voice actress, Atsuko Tanaka, passed away in 2024. So, Kikuko Inoue provides new voiceovers for Karulau in Past and Present Rediscovered.
The update also includes a brand-new character in Fuyu, who will be voiced in Japanese by Yuka Keicho. She is described as a woman who recites a poem while traveling around various nations. Aquaplus also teases that the poem may already be familiar to Oshtor and other characters. One of the in-game screenshots also notes that Fuyu recognizes Munechika's voice.
Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered is set to release in Japan for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC via Steam on May 28. Shiravune will also release the English localization for PC via Steam simultaneously worldwide. Note that the Steam version's release time is set to May 28 at 03:00 UTC or 12:00/noon JST, meaning that those in the Americas will be able to play the game by the evening of May 27 due to timezone differences.
